鸿山镇位于石狮市东部，镇区依山傍海，东面临台湾海峡，北侧的洪厝山是石狮市海拔最高的山。[1]
镇名取自境内最高峰洪厝山的雅称“鸿山”。该山主峰形似鸿鸟展翅，因“洪”与“鸿”同音，自元代以来便称“鸿厝山”，后雅称“鸿山”。[4]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年归晋江县第九区；1955年改隶双湖区，次年划入莲塘区，1961年转由祥芝人民公社统管。[4]
1987年划归祥芝镇人民政府管辖。1999年，经福建省民政厅批准，自祥芝镇析出，正式增设鸿山镇。[4]
地理环境[edit]
陆地面积约16.73平方公里，海岸线全长9.65公里，镇域沿海，北靠洪厝山。[1]
镇域分为若干片区：伍堡工业集控区与鸿山科技园区相邻，石祥公路沿线形成工业走廊，东埔一带则设有蓝色产业区，伍鸿滨海一带辟为风景区。[5]
人口[edit]
旅外侨亲和港澳台同胞约2.6万人，本镇户籍人口2.96万人，另有流动人口1.97万人。[1][2]
经济[edit]
镇域工业以热电企业为骨干，高科技产业集中于新材料、新装备和光电信息等领域，纺织印染与海洋食品是特色行业。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
东埔三村祠堂区的清代“四世一品”祠，是纪念清初将领邱天胜而建的祠堂，建于雍正丁未年（1727年）。祠名“四世一品”源于邱氏家族在康熙三十六年（1697年）得到的诰封。[6]
该祠为泉州市文物保护单位，年代属清代，类别是古建筑。[7] 祠内原存“四世一品圣旨”，后人于2015年捐给中国闽台缘博物馆。[6]

鸿山镇先后获得「中国休闲面料名镇」「福建省文明乡镇」「福建省劳动关系和谐乡镇」「福建省农村宣传思想文化工作示范乡镇」等称号。[1]
