湖西村位于祥芝镇西南部，2000年新成立为行政村，村内以农业为主，濒临小五金经济开发区。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村名取自建村两姓各自原籍村名中的一个字，合成「湖西」。[2]

经过2002年的村改造，湖西村在2006年被列为全市首批「新农村建设重点村」。[2]

经济[edit]

村里种植甘薯、花生等旱地作物，村内有10家企业和一个农贸市场。西面的仙公山有丰富的花岗岩。[1][2]

文化[edit]

村里先后获得石狮市文明村（2010年、2013—2015年度、2016—2018年度）和泉州市文明村（2008—2010年度、2020年）等称号。[1]

2022年10月，湖西村被福建省农业农村厅认定为第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇；同年11月，村里列入「2022年泉州市中级版绿盈乡村」名单。[2]
