祥农村位于泉州湾口的突出部，隔海与台湾相望。村子原以农业为主，后因土地大量被征用，村民转向渔业及相关行业。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1961年，祥农从祥芝大队中分出，最初称祥农大队，1985年改称祥农。此地在唐代已有开发，居民众多，蔡氏是当地最大的家族。[2][3]

地理环境[edit]

村域内的烟墩山是祥芝半岛突出部的最高点，海拔57.8米，山体由花岗石和沙土层构成，山下的民居顺着山势一直建到山顶。[1][3]

关于烟墩山的得名，一说是山下炊烟四起，烟雾缭绕在山墩上久久不散。另一说则认为，明清时祥芝处在泉州湾出海口，有军队驻守，山上设烽火台，俗称「烟墩」，此山便是古时的烽火台。[3]

经济[edit]

村里原有耕地740亩，以农业为主。因建设需要，耕地多被征收，村民改做渔业及配套行业。早年村里在祥芝一带建起冷冻厂、造船厂，还有水产品市场、渔业码头和加工厂，并把「台轮避风点」扩大为「对台贸易试验点」。[1][3]

村里先后获得福建省级「明星村」（1992年）和泉州市首批「宽裕型文明村」（2002年）等荣誉。[1]
