地名[edit]
相传古时村子前后遍布松树，生长茂盛，故有“松茂”之称；村子又建在苍松茂盛的山下，故亦称“茂山”。[2]
道光《晋江县志·铺递志》中此地写作“上墓”，村民因避讳“墓”字改为“上慕”。[3] 以松林取的“松茂”是“上慕”的雅称，因谐音又写作“尚茂”或“上茂”；明代，村子还有一个别称“靖山”。[2][3]
行政沿革[edit]
明清时期此地属二十四都，民国时属石狮镇三吴保。1953年设松茂初级合作社，1956年设高级合作社，1980年自大队分出，成立松茂大队；1984年改设村民委员会，1990年归石狮街道办事处管辖，1993年划属宝盖镇。[2]

据2026年3月的行政村简介，村内常住1670人，外来1900人，共415户住户；设村民小组10个，支部党员48名。[1]
