前园村位于宝盖镇南部，东靠宝盖山风景区，南临八七路东段，西临濠江路中段，是宝盖镇的一个行政村。[1]

村名来自村后的一片园地，村中林、蔡、黄等姓的先民在园前建屋；1994年8月正式成立为前园村。[2]

地名与宗族[edit]

村落后方原有一片园地，林、蔡、黄等姓村民在园地前建屋居住，因此取名“前园”。[2] 其中林氏一支由泉州奎霞巷分出，始祖林彦安元代来此开基，后成为望族，明初林氏族人曾任“百夫长”。[2]

建置[edit]

1993年以前，这里是石狮市石狮东区长福大队的一个自然村；1993年从长福大队划出，设宝盖镇前园村筹备组，1994年8月正式成立前园村。[2]

荣誉[edit]

村曾获「福建省级卫生村」「石狮市五四红旗团（总）支部」「石狮市先进基层党组织」，以及宝盖镇先进党组织等称号。[1] 2022年10月，前园村被列入2022年淘宝村名单。[2]
