塘园村是灵秀镇下辖的行政村，位于灵秀山东麓，又称「长园」，村中有宋代建造的塘园石塔，为市级文物保护单位。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村子位于灵秀山东麓一片低洼的塘地，村民在塘畔成片的园地上建居，因而得名「塘园」，亦称「长园」。[1]

自然村与姓氏[edit]

村中以黄、蔡两姓为主。黄姓一支据称是黄守恭的后裔，蔡姓则由他处迁来。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

塘园石塔位于村北，建于北宋年间，原为玄坛宫的驱邪镇煞之塔（玄坛宫今已重建）。石塔为三层实心方塔，底边长2米，通高3.76米；四个面各刻有力士托举的图案，第三层刻佛像，塔顶为金刚宝箧相轮塔刹。1990年5月，它被定为第一批市级文物保护单位。[2]

塘园溪宽约16米，全长7公里左右，由东向西流，经塘园后折北入海。[2]
