仕林村是灵秀镇下辖的行政村，位于灵秀山麓，雅称「琼林」，村名得自宋代一位仕官曾在此隐居的传说。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村名「仕林」据传由宋朝一位朝廷仕官曾隐居此地而来。1958年此地建水库时，挖出一块宋朝墓志铭，上有「仕林」之称，可作佐证。[1]
明初，蔡氏始祖由他处迁入定居，此后村名沿用至今。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明清两代此地隶属十九都，民国时期归湖格保管辖。1953年和1956年先后组建初级、高级合作社，1958年建大队，1984年改为村，1990年划入石狮街道办事处。[1]
自然环境[edit]
村内有仕林水库，1958年建水库时挖出上述墓志铭。水库坝为石砌，坝高29.8米、长120米，蓄水量17.9万立方米，汇水面积0.44平方公里。[1]
