林边社区位于福建省泉州市石狮市中心繁华地段，九二路邮政大楼一带即在其境内。[2]
社区古称林柄，雅称琼林。村民依狮仔山、牛角山等山地和树林边缘建居，1958年前村口有大片松树，遂又称林边。[1][2]
截至2021年，社区常住人口4588人。[3]
地理环境[edit]
社区分为洪厝份、施厝份、王厝份、隘门内、后壁份5个角落，洪、施、王、许及杂姓各居一角落。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，此地明清民国属泉州府南门外十九都，解放初属晋江县林边村。[2]
1953年归入金曾初级合作社，1956年划入新湖高级合作社，1958年设林边大队，1984年改为林边村委会。[2]
2000年起称林边居委会，2002年整合为林边社区居委会。[2]
