桂阳乡在福建省泉州市德化县北部，位于戴云山东北麓，乡政府设在桂阳村，离县城约68公里。全乡辖9个行政村，属德化县的6个乡之一。[1][2][4]2019年末，户籍人口为8617人。[1]

乡名的来历，博雅地名网的解释是境内多桂树、地势向阳。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

唐代这一带属尤溪县常平乡，后来划归德化县。[1][3]宋代与明代，乡境分属常平乡下的杨梅上团、杨梅中团，以及永宁乡善均里；善均里在明天顺六年并入清泰里。[2]清代则归梅上里与梅中里。[2]

民国时期先后推行保甲和联保，1939年撤销联保，改设桂溪乡。[3]1956年8月，乡境并为桂阳、溪洋、陈溪、洪田四个乡，都归上涌区管辖。[2]

1961年，从葛坑、上涌两个公社各分出一部分村组，组成溪洋公社。[2]1981年，溪洋公社改称桂阳公社，进入1984年9月，此地才定名桂阳乡。[1][3]

地理环境[edit]

乡境位于戴云山东北麓，地势较高，山丘连绵。冬季寒冷，夏季凉爽，年平均气温在16至18℃之间，年降雨量大约1700至1800毫米。[2]

涌溪源于戴云山，流经涌溪村和洪田村后注入水口镇，是全县两大溪流之一。[2]矿产方面，洪田、彭坑一带产黄金，王春有高岭土，安章有石灰石。[2]

人口[edit]

1999年末，全乡总人口为8192人，均为汉族。[2]到2019年末，户籍人口增至8617人。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

彭坑村罗城的蔡岩，年代为宋，属古建筑，于2021年8月列为德化县第四批县级文物保护单位。[3][5]

第三次全国文物普查登记的不可移动文物里，桂阳乡内多为清代的窑址，此外有祖厝和堂、庙等，分布在各村，详见各村条目。[6]

荣誉[edit]

这一「2010—2011年度国家级生态乡镇」称号由环境保护部给予，时间是2012年12月。[3]

2022年末获评「2022年福建省森林城镇」，2024年1月又认定为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」。[3]

2024年6月，桂阳乡列入「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡镇」名单。[3]
