格中村是汤头乡的行政村，全村土地总面积47.8平方千米，辖区内森林资源丰富。[1][2]建国初期它属葛坑公社，1961年归汤头公社。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

民国初年的制度仍沿袭清朝，此地属梅上里汤头社；更早的明代，则归进城乡的汤泉上团管辖。[1]1944年划入葛坑乡。[1]

1959年，秀琼、琼富、格中三个高级社合并为格中大队，隶属葛坑公社；1960年改属上涌公社，1961年析出，归汤头公社；1984年改称汤头乡格中村，设村委会。[1]

人口与生活[edit]

2004年末统计，村内有388户，共1554名村民。[2]1997年，格中村党支部获市委授予「农村百佳党支部」称号，1999年获县委授予「五个好党支部」。[2]

村里全部15个自然村落都通了机耕路，又开通了岭脚至格中的公路。[2]

自然资源[edit]

村域森林资源丰富，有黄铁、石英石等矿藏，境内建有丘埕铁矿选矿厂。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

村内芹菜坑有格中宝峰岩，年代为明代，属古建筑，列为县级文物保护单位。[1]
