美湖村位于德化县的西北部，西侧与大田县济阳乡接壤；东面与小湖村隔开，北面是大铭乡的联春村，南面连着洋田村。村中有林、李、陈、许、张等姓。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

村中林氏先祖于宋代由杨梅乡迁到本村定居，其他姓氏此后陆续迁来。[1][4]

明代此地归集贤乡新化里。民国初年仍照清代的制度，1935年成立尊美保，隶双阳乡。1951年设美湖乡，归第五区；1958年组成美湖大队，划入赤水公社；1961年一度改名尊美大队，后因名称不便，恢复为美湖大队；1984年改为美湖村委会，隶属美湖乡。[1]

村民以水稻、甘薯、水果、养殖、食用菌和烤烟为主要经济来源。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村中有石拱桥、双溪庵、福隆庵和水尾宫等古迹，另有数棵百年樟树。[1]

林清良民居年代为1920年，美湖公社旧址年代为1970年，两者在2012年第三次全国文物普查中均登记为一般不可移动文物。[3]

文化[edit]

2017年8月，村庄列入「第二批省级传统村落」名录；2019年6月，列入「第五批中国传统村落」名录；2021年4月，获评「2020年度福建省乡村振兴实绩突出村」；2021年12月，确定为「福建省第二批高级版绿盈乡村（乡镇）」；2022年9月，被推介为「2022年福建省美丽休闲乡村」；2022年10月，经认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1][2]
