美湖镇位于福建省泉州市德化县西南部，东邻赤水镇和盖德镇，南接永春县，西连大田县。全镇土地面积93.45平方千米，辖8个行政村、99个村民小组和56个自然村落，镇人民政府驻小湖村，海拔690米。[1][3]

各行政村依次为上岸、小湖、美湖、上漈、洋坑、洋田、斜山和阳山。[9]

镇内铁矿资源较为集中，铁矿石主要分布在阳山、斜山和美湖等村一带。境内另有唐代的古窑址、龙湖寺、大白岩和东山岩等县级文物保护单位，以及一株唐初植下的千年樟树。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

当地的人类活动可以上溯到新石器时代，1974年在美湖村后坪山一带出土过石斧、石矛与印纹陶片。[1]

后汉乾祐元年（948年），此地属尤溪县进城乡，之后划归德化县进城乡。宋乾德二年（964年）时仍属进城乡，编为小尤上团。[3][7]

明天顺六年（1462年），此地并入集贤乡下辖的新化里。清代分属新化里与尤中里，民国时期先后隶属尊阳乡和双阳乡。[1][3][7]

1949年后，此地先属德化县第五区，1956年改称赤水区。1958年美湖、洋田、阳山三个大队归赤水公社管辖；1961年从赤水公社析出，成立美湖人民公社，公社起初驻在美湖大队的后坪一带，1980年才搬到小湖村。1984年改称美湖乡。[1][3]

2014年，美湖乡撤销，设立美湖镇。[7][8]

据博雅地名网的说法，镇名出自旧时上岸、小湖、美湖一带富户设立的三座粮仓：上岸为第一仓，小湖为第二仓，美湖位居末仓。因“尾”与“美”音近，地名经演变成“尊美”，后人以此为名。[6]

德化县政府网站2023年的行政区划介绍中，美湖镇位列全县12个镇之一。[2]

地理环境[edit]

镇境属低山丘陵地貌，龙湖山、大白岩、九龙山和矿山岐等峰耸立在西南部，其中龙湖山等多峰海拔在千米以上。全镇年平均气温16℃，年降雨量1700至1800毫米，耕地面积9914亩。[1]

镇内溪流分属闽江和晋江两大水系：南部阳山一带的溪水经永春汇入晋江上游的西溪，其余溪涧多向尤溪汇聚，再经大田、尤溪流入闽江。[1]

人口民族[edit]

2004年末全乡人口约1.60万人，均为汉族。[3]2019年末户籍人口为15924人。[8]

经济[edit]

铁矿石主要分布在阳山、斜山和美湖等村一带，储量据称在1亿吨以上，含铁量多数超过50％，在福建省内属第二大的铁矿储藏地。宋代已有开采冶炼的记载。[1][3]

镇内还有高岭土和石灰石矿，高岭土质优量大，是德化瓷器的重要原料产地。[3]

农业以水稻和甘薯为主，德化梨、甜椒等特色作物在2005年通过了福建省无公害生产产地及产品认证。[1]

2011年4月，环境保护部授予美湖镇「2011年度国家级生态乡镇」称号。[6]

2021年2月，美湖镇列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[6]

名胜古迹[edit]

千年樟树王位于小湖村，据称植于唐初。据福建省林业厅派员实测，树高28.01米，胸围16.74米，1997年列入省级古树名木。[1]

龙湖寺在上漈村的龙湖山上，由林自超创建，建寺之年记为庆元四年（1198年）。1535年（嘉靖十四年）寺院遭火灾损毁，其后重建。该寺列为县级文物保护单位（第一批，2021年8月6日公布）。[11][4]

大白岩位于阳山村，为清代建筑，2012年普查时已登记为县级文物，列为县级文物保护单位（第五批，2021年8月6日公布）。同村的凤阳堂也是清代建筑，列为县级文物保护单位（第六批，同日公布）。[4][5]

东山岩有清代壁画和岩前古杉，列为县级文物保护单位（第四批，2021年8月6日公布）。[10][4]

唐代洋田墓林古陶瓷窑址位于洋田村，该窑址在2003年被公布为县级文物。[1]
