锦洋村位于赤水镇西部九仙山下，村域土地总面积3.8平方千米，下辖虎头山、外洋、后格垅、双凤与后安5个自然村落。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

村落原称赤水洋，因忌讳“赤”字（闽南方言中有贫穷之意），雅称锦水洋，后简称锦洋。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋、明代此地属进城乡汤泉里；清代仍属汤泉里，民初沿用清朝的制度。1935年设锦洋保，隶第三区赤水乡；1950年起划归第五区赤水乡。[4]

1958年设赤水大队，归赤水公社；1981年，锦洋大队由赤水公社分出设立；大队改制后，本村名为赤水乡锦洋村。到1992年7月，乡制取消，此村随赤水成镇而归赤水镇，村委会随即设立。[4]

姓氏[edit]

南宋末年，黄氏先祖从安溪科名迁居锦水洋，其他姓氏此后也先后到此定居。[2]
