大尖山脚下的永嘉村属赤水镇西部，村域土地总面积5.7平方千米，自然村有外洋、中洋与上洋三处。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

明代此地屡受倭寇与匪患侵扰，村民祈愿平安长久，并借此勉励后人，村名因此而来。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

明代此地属汤泉里；清代至1933年属新化里。1934年，此地划为德化县第四区赤水乡的永嘉保；1942年又改隶第三区赤水乡，仍称永嘉保。[4]

1950年，此地成为德化县第五区赤水乡的永嘉村；1984年6月起改用赤水乡永嘉村的名称；1992年7月，乡级建制取消，此村改为赤水镇永嘉村，同时设立村委会。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

英显宫建于1913年，内有木雕与壁画，属县级文物保护单位。[5]

外洋有桥亭，亭中存一尊古代观音塑像。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2020年，永嘉村被列为福建省第三批省级传统村落之一。[6]

2024年10月，泉州市将永嘉村列为2023年度市级「一村一品」专业村，主导产业是油茶。[1]
