水口镇位于福建省泉州市德化县东北部，与仙游、永泰、尤溪三县交界，镇人民政府驻湖坂村，辖16个行政村。[8][3]

全镇土地面积260.31平方千米，镇政府介绍称为全县土地面积最大的乡镇。境内有石牛山、岱仙湖和岱仙瀑布等景区，石牛山国家森林公园的范围也涉及镇内多个村。[1][4]

历史沿革[edit]

宋明时期，镇境属永宁乡清泰里，淳湖一带另归常平乡杨梅中团。清代境内分为丘坂社与南埕社两部分，淳湖一带则属梅中里的淳湖社。[3]

民国时期这里是德化县第二区下的水口乡。新中国成立后先设第三区，此后历经水口区、水口人民公社、水口乡等阶段，直到1992年7月才撤乡建镇。[3]

1944年3月，中共福建省委机关由永泰青溪转入昆坂村的坂里自然村，省委此后在坂里领导全省的革命活动，这里一度成为抗战时期的指挥中心。[3][2]

2011年列入泉州市小城镇综合改革建设的试点，2016年又成为市级小城市培育的试点镇，同年获福建省历史文化名镇称号。[1]

地理环境[edit]

镇域处于浐溪与涌溪的下游。地势南北两侧高、中部低，境内山峰众多，逾千米的有三十余座；石牛山主峰海拔1781.6米。年平均气温17.6℃，年降雨量约1600毫米。[3]

国道355线与省道203线都从镇区中部穿过，镇村公路连成网络。[1][3]

境内林地面积为35.9万亩，林木蓄积量为216万立方米。20座水电站合计装机10.96万千瓦，这一数字占全县水电装机总量的38.5%。[1]

境内曾于2010年得到国家级生态乡镇的认定，2015年又被评为中国宜居小镇。[1]

人口民族[edit]

2004年末，全镇人口为1.73万人，均属汉族；此外旅居海外的华侨、华裔与港澳台同胞有两千多人。[3]镇政府2021年的基本情况简介则给出全镇人口2.03万人的数字。[1]

文化[edit]

镇政府介绍，境内留存的历史建筑共143座，年代涉及明、清、民国，以及中华人民共和国成立后至1980年的各个时期。[1]

戴云山筑建筑群分布在各村，镇政府称它是海内外“法主公”的发源地。镇内的水口山歌为福建省级非物质文化遗产。[1]

淳湖村、承泽村被列为省级传统村落，淳湖村和上湖村的白潭则进入第五批中国传统村落名录。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

石牛山国家森林公园于2003年12月获国家级森林公园的认定，面积9.7万亩（6472公顷），涉及榜上、昆坂、梨坑、承泽、村场等村的范围。石牛山景区也是国家4A级旅游景区。[3][5]

岱仙瀑布位于湖坂村摘锦一带，水源来自石牛山的赤石溪，形成东西两股：东为岱仙瀑布，西为油漏瀑布。岱仙湖休闲区位于镇中心。[4][6]

县级文物保护单位中，济美桥（清，承泽村）、柱峰岩（元，村场村）、岐山堂革命旧址（民国，毛厝村）、中共福建省委坂里旧址（近代，昆坂村坂里）、石壶寺（南宋，榜上村）都在镇内。[2]

厚德堡位于祥光村，俗称祥光土楼，是福建省第九批省级文物保护单位，始建于清道光十七年（1837年）。[7]
