望洋村位于戴云山以东、石牛山以西的丘陵地带，距南埕镇区5千米，平均海拔约630米。[1] 村名来自村民沿有七个小平洋的一带定居。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明代此地属永宁乡清太里，清代为清太里的南埕社。民国时期先编入南埕保，隶水口乡，后改属西南乡。[1]

1950年归第二区西南乡，此后相继归第三区与水口区管辖，所在的乡名为南埕乡。1961年析出，设望洋大队，之后归南埕公社。1984年改设望洋村民委员会，1991年乡改镇。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村域土地面积11.65平方千米，竹林较多，有石英石、泥碳土等矿产待开发。[2]

文化[edit]

望洋村先后两次获评省级文明村（1994年至1995年、1996年至1997年），2022年获评福建省卫生村。[2][3]

名胜古迹[edit]

望洋显灵宫为清代建筑，列入「第三次全国文物普查不可移动文物名录」，属一般不可移动文物。[4]
