地名由来[edit]
村名几经更易：先称「岖荇」，后因邱氏开发改称「邱」，又雅化为「科岩」；清康熙年间定名「科荣」，村人俗称「祖厝」。另有别名东星。[4]
历史沿革[edit]
清代属科荣社，隶新化里。民国时并入科荣保。[3]
1961年自科荣保分出，设祖厝大队；1968年一度改名东星大队，1981年复称祖厝大队，1984年改设村民委员会。[3]
经济[edit]
村民以农业为主，种植油柿、养殖生猪，并推行「一村一品一业」的发展思路。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
科荣堂为县级文物保护单位，据百度百科始建于唐景福二年（893年），原为曾氏的宅第。[6][7]

百度百科称，本村于2019年被收入第五批中国传统村落名录。[8]
