历史沿革[edit]
宋代至清代，乡境属民康乡常安里二十二都。清乾隆三十一年（1766年），原名亭上的地方改称呈祥。[1]
民国时期，这一带先后划归苏坑乡、常安乡，新中国成立后又数次调整区与镇的隶属，1955年属蓬壶区、蓬壶镇。1958年设立呈祥乡，同年归蓬壶公社管辖；1961年另立呈祥公社，1984年公社建制撤为乡，即今名呈祥乡。[1]
地理环境[edit]
乡境位于永春县西北部雪山的东南麓，是桃溪的上游地段。北面紧邻德化县，具体为浔中镇与盖德乡；西面是锦斗镇，南面为蓬壶镇，东面连接苏坑镇。[3]
乡境属中亚热带气候，年平均气温19.3℃，年平均降雨量1800毫米。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
东溪大峡谷在乡境内，地处雪山腹地，是晋江东溪的源头，全长3800米。峡谷于2009年1月动工，同年9月对外开放，是永春雪山生态旅游区的一部分，该旅游区为「国家3A级」景区。[5] 维基百科也把它列为乡内景点。[4]
荣誉称号[edit]
环境保护部于2012年12月授予呈祥乡「2010—2011年度国家级生态乡镇」称号。[1] 福建省爱国卫生运动委员会于2022年12月，把呈祥乡列为「2022年福建省卫生乡镇」；2023年10月，乡内被确定为「2023年福建省级森林康养小镇」。[1]
