下西坑村位于横口乡北部，因地处西坑溪下游而得名。[1][2]

村中一条小溪属晋江西溪支流。2025年12月，本村与上西坑村合并，设立西坑村。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

南宋时属永春县福鼎乡，民国三十年即1941年划入荣义乡。新中国成立后，1957年以前属一都区福鼎乡，1958年归一都公社福鼎大队。1961年政社分开后归环峰大队，1979年由环峰分出，另立下西坑大队；1984年10月起改称村委会。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村子坐落于戴云山脉的南端，溪流为晋江西溪的一条分支。[1]

2021年村简介列下西坑村、抽庵角落两个自然村；博雅地名网则记为三个自然村。[2][1]

文化[edit]

村中有关帝庙一座，供奉关帝尊王，每年农历正月十九日为祭祀香期，并有小型庙会。[2]

2020年12月，下西坑村被认定为2020年泉州市中级版「绿盈乡村」。[1]

2024年10月，下西坑村被确定为泉州市2024年度市级「一村一品」专业村，主导产业为油茶；2025年11月，又被确定为福建省2025年度省级「一村一品」专业村（油茶）。[1]
