茂春村位于桂洋镇西北部，西侧邻接下洋镇，南面与金沙村相连。[1]

村名取境内茂林、长春两个自然村各一字组合而成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋至清代属四都。新中国成立前，此地称长春乡，属桂洋乡的壶岐保管辖。新中国成立后，此地改归第二区的壶岐乡。[1]

公社化之后，村地编入锦斗公社的壶岐大队。1961年，此地自壶岐大队中析出，另设茂春大队并归桂洋公社。1984年，改设茂春村民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

茂春通京桥为单孔石拱桥，桥长约50米，宽4米。桥面铺石，桥上屋顶为悬山式，内部采用抬梁穿斗结构；两侧设护栏与长木凳，桥中另有木龛，桥头立碑一方。该桥建于清光绪三十年，即1904年，是县级文物保护单位。[2]
