桂洋村处于桂洋镇镇区之内，是一个革命老区村。[1]

村名取自村中种植的桂花。村中有宋代建造的锦水林氏宗祠，祠堂在1948年至1949年间曾是地下党组织的会议场所。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋至清时期，这一带隶属宣和乡善化里，列为四都。民国时期曾划归锦桂乡，该乡治所设于锦溪。[1]

1940年此地归桂洋乡管辖，两年后改属锦斗区，同时推行保甲制度。新中国成立后，村地先归第一区，再划入第二区，也就是锦斗区，其间农业合作经历了互助组、初级社与高级社几个阶段。[1]

1958年，村并入锦斗人民公社，当时叫桂洋生产大队。1961年8月，政社实行分设，此后形成桂洋人民公社，村下属桂洋大队。1984年，公社撤销，改为乡，村随之设为村民委员会。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

锦水林氏宗祠建于宋淳熙七年，即1180年，是县级文物保护单位。1948年至1949年间，地下党组织曾在祠中先后召开会议，商议联合锦斗、玉斗、桂洋、坑仔口等地开展革命活动，并组织抗击征粮、征税、征兵的斗争，还有多人参加闽西南游击队。[2]

文化[edit]

第二批国家森林乡村名单于2019年12月发布，桂洋村位列其中，发布单位为国家林业和草原局。2021年2月，村庄列入「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。2020年12月，获认定为泉州市中级版「绿盈乡村」。2024年11月，村里以茶油入选福建省「一村一品」专业村（2024年度）。[1]
