玉美村位于永春县西南部，属玉斗镇，距县城40公里，海拔330米[3]。村名由「玉斗」的「玉」字与旧地名草埔尾的「美」字合成[1]。村域分八坑、草美、梅田洋三个自然角落；2022年统计，村有2862人，分为13个村民小组[3]。
历史沿革[edit]
明代，村域属永春县六都。民国时期，八坑、草埔尾两处村落并入同一个保[1]。新中国成立后至1958年，村域属公社下的一个大队；1961年自原大队析出，另设大队，并以村名定名[1]。1984年6月改设玉美村委会[1]。
地理环境[edit]
全村面积为6.12平方公里，其中耕地1200亩、山地6000亩[3]。村内有高岭土与辉绿岩矿藏，格后林和梅田洋两处电站的装机容量为950千瓦[2]。
经济[edit]
茶叶是村里的主要产业，村内有多家茶叶加工厂[2]。2021年12月，玉美村获评「泉州市2019-2021年度市级一村一品专业村（乡镇）」，主导产业为佛手茶[1]。2020年12月，村被列入「2019年度福建省一村一品示范村」名单，产业同为佛手茶[1]。
名胜古迹[edit]
村西北约1500米的窑头山上有玉美窑址，为宋代窑址，1982年发现[4]。
