村中有五条小溪，旧称五江，因“吾”与“五”谐音，改称吾江。[1]

1962年经体制调整后，形成现在的村域。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年6月，吾江村列入福建省第四批省级传统村落名单。[1] 2021年12月，村子被命名为「2021年度福建省森林村庄」。[1]

2024年6月，吾江村入选福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村名单。[1]
