新村村隶属永春县下洋镇，位于镇西部，毗邻牛姆林旅游区，是一个建村较晚的村落。[1][2]

地名由来与历史沿革[edit]

村子成立的时间不久，因此以「新村」为名。[1]

1957年，县手工业科科长潘儒赞、副科长李芳远等人率领二十多名干部和职工，到此开垦山地。此地原称墘头溪，属一都区大荣乡，原本人烟稀少。[1]

1960年代，又有数批知青迁入此地落户。2021年的镇情材料称，本村是全省仅有的一个全体村民均为知青后代的村庄。[1][3]

2010年，新村村被列入全国新农村建设典型经验60例之一。村子先后获得省明星村、市「十佳美丽乡村」等称号，2017至2019年度又被评为县级文明村。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村子距下洋镇政府约15公里，溪塔通往天湖岩的公路从村中穿过。[2]

按2021年的材料，村域面积6.7平方公里，全村421人，耕地270亩，编为三个村民小组。[2]

经济[edit]

村民种植芦柑、美国脐橙与血橙，又凭借毗邻牛姆林的位置经营农家旅馆。[1]
