地名由来[edit]
村子古代称鳌头，中华人民共和国成立后改称福新，别名吾厝头。[1][2]
自然环境[edit]
村子东面有双髻山，西面有抱紫尖山，南面有外屏山与同发山，北面为御史尖山。村内有石碧溪、石厝溪和和春溪三条小溪。[4]
历史沿革[edit]
村民先祖自甘肃迁至河南，宋代又从福建邵武迁到安溪福春定居，后分为东、西两派，在鳌头繁衍。宋代此地属清溪县，明清时期属金田乡还二里福春保。[1][4]
1950年改称福新，1961年归祥华公社福新大队。1965年撤区建社，村子隶属祥华乡；1984年改设祥华乡福新村民委员会。[1][3][4]
荣誉[edit]
2020年12月，村子被认定为2020年泉州市中级版「绿盈乡村」。[1]
