科名村位于尚卿乡西北部，距乡政府驻地约10公里，村名源于元末设立的科场。[1]

名称与沿革[edit]

古称“科场”。元末（1351年至1367年间）在此设考场，村落形成后，取一举成名之意定名科名。[1]

新中国成立后至六十年代初属湖头公社科名大队；六十年代后期起属尚卿乡，设科名村委会。[1]

科名街[edit]

明末清初，本村已有集市，初设于一株大榕树下。1931年，乡长谢其南规划圩场，修成两条横街和一条纵街，两侧多为土木结构的骑楼式店铺。[2]

1997年以后，村委会集资建设科名农贸市场，街道改为四横四纵。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2022年1月，列入安溪县2020至2021年度「文明村镇」名单。[1]
