盖竹村是西坪镇辖下的行政村，村名与早年村中多竹有关。[1]

地名由来[edit]

明洪武年间，有医者自长泰西行到安溪行医，见此地竹林很多，便编竹搭棚居住，故称盖竹。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时属崇信里。民国时期属西洋乡。1952年归第八区，1958年归西坪公社；1978年从大队中分离，单独设立盖竹大队；1984年起以西坪乡盖竹村委会的名义运行。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年1月，本村被认定为「安溪县2020-2021年度文明村镇」。[1]
