镇西村是魁斗镇下辖的行政村，位于镇政府驻地东北约3.1公里处，莲花山石碣山南坡，海拔384米。村委会设在岭顶，辖14个自然村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地旧名乌材林，林木茂密，白天行路难见阳光，因「黑」与「乌」谐音而得名。宋末官府在此设镇抚寨，村子位于寨子西部，遂改称镇西。[1]

1965年，镇安、镇山两个大队并入镇西大队，后同属魁斗公社。[2][3]

地理环境[edit]

村中有高岭土矿。深坑隘是通往外界的必经之道，也是村子的天然屏障。[1]

人口民族[edit]

村民以黄姓为主。清代起有村民迁往台湾及东南亚，其后裔至今繁衍有7000多人，台湾淡水建有以镇抚命名的街道。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

村南一座山峰山顶可俯瞰全村，因全村如湖泊一般，故名湖顶。该处有清代古瓷窑遗址。[1]
