林东村属虎邱镇，在镇区西南约8公里，处于四面环山的丘陵地带，省道207线贯穿全境。[2][3]
村民八成以上从事茶叶生产。村子曾是革命老区的基点村，并在2007年至2010年间列为「福建省第二批省级重点帮扶村」。[2]
地名由来[edit]
村名来自古时人们在原始森林东部一片空旷的土地上定居，故称林东。[1][3]
历史沿革[edit]
明清时期，村域属积德乡新康里；1946年（民国三十五年）归新康乡林东保。1952年归第五区的林东乡；1958年，西坪公社设林东大队。[2]
1965年，此地改隶虎邱公社，名称仍是林东大队；1984年，村委会改称虎邱镇林东村委会。[2]
地理环境[edit]
全村面积约1.5万亩，下辖11个自然角落，设20个村民小组。村中有茶园、耕地与林地，茶园面积约1090亩。[2]
人口与民族[edit]

荣誉[edit]
近年村里获得的荣誉有：2008年、2011年度，村党支部先后被安溪县委评为「先进基层党组织」；2021年2月，入选「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。另外，村子曾被评为「泉州市文明村」和「安溪县社区建设示范村」，年份未注明。[2][3]
