元口村位于金谷镇，因地处龙潭溪汇入西溪的入口处，原称源口，后谐音写作元口。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村子的前身为源口公社，后组建为源口大队，俗称黄口大队。1984年前改为源口村，名称后谐音为元口村。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
元口街位于清溪畔，全长约50米，街市形成于明代。宋元丰三年（1080年）之后，这里设过源口巡检司。到了明嘉靖二十八年（1549年），巡检司迁往白叶堡，原地才发展为圩场。新中国成立后的1957年，圩场消失，代之以供销社的分销处。[2]
黄口小溪祖厝建于民国时期，为县级文物保护单位。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2020年12月，元口村被认定为「2020年泉州市中级版绿盈乡村」；2022年1月，被认定为「安溪县2020-2021年度文明村镇」；2022年10月，入选「2022年淘宝村」名单。[1]
