莲埭村位于龙头山北麓，与后渚港隔海相望。村名的来历与村中的埭上自然村有关，村西侧的海堤俗称郑和堤。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记，百崎回族的始祖郭仲远最初在白崎铺落脚时，便住在埭上。埭上过去是一片海埭；西边的海堤习称郑和堤，据称是郑和第五次下西洋时在泉州停留，为百崎回民修成的（永乐十五年，即1417年）。修堤之前，涨潮时海水常漫到村部一带。[2]

另一说法是，保甲制时期埭上一带实行联保，「莲」与「联」同音，村名遂写作「莲埭」。[2]

清代此地属惠安二十二都。民国时期隶属后港下的莲埭保。1949年至1955年间，此地为五区、七区（东园）的莲埭乡；1956年并入东园黎阳乡，1958年起分属上游公社与东园公社，设莲埭大队。1985年改称莲埭村委会，隶属东园镇；1990年百崎回族乡建立，村委会随之归其管辖。[2]

2024年1月，本村被命名为2023年福建省卫生村。[2]

地理环境[edit]

村中一条水泥纵道穿过，向北经伊斯兰商品街可直达沿海大通道，并接通324国道；村子距秀涂港约3公里。[2]
