地名由来[edit]
相传元末明初，张氏迁居此地，村前有一片洼地似坑，坑中筑小庙敬奉舍公、舍妈，祈求全村平安，故初名舍坑，后改称社坑。此后陈氏迁入，人口繁衍，村中现以陈姓居多。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立前，此地属社坑下坑埔。新中国成立后曾编入第十四区，称后社分社坑村。1958年为超先公社辋川管理区的社坑大队，公社化时期归辋川公社社坑大队。1984年改镇，改设辋川镇社坑村民委员会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
鲤鱼岛为海边滩涂中的小岛，距社坑村不到3公里，因形似鲤鱼而得名。落潮时可步行上岛，涨潮时需乘船。[3]
岛上的灵惠庙位于小山上，供奉五代闽将张悃，南宋景炎元年（1276年）宋端宗封其为“灵安王”，乡民遂加以扩建。庙为单进，面阔三间，歇山屋顶。[2]
社坑海滩中还留有一座跨海的古桥石墩。[2]
