湖街村是净峰镇下辖的行政村，位于集镇区中心，东与小乍镇接壤[2]。村名由数个以姓氏和地理位置命名的聚落合称而来[3]。

历史沿革[edit]

清同治十一年（1872年）至光绪年间，吴、邱、陈、艾、黄、林等姓村民陆续迁至七里湖畔，筑堤挡水、垦荒落户，又设起铺面；各聚落依姓氏和地势分称西邱街、中湖街、下湖街、口湖等，合起来称为湖街[2][3]。

此地在元代属文质乡，明清时期隶属三十一都的山前铺，民国时期归净峰乡净东保管辖[2][3]。1949年9月划入东岭区，1958年并入飞跃人民公社的净东大队，1961年设湖街大队，1985年改为村委会[2][3]。村名的由来与一则传说相关：据传南宋绍兴十年（1140年），一位宰相返乡探亲，因海上风浪险阻，奏请移山填海，遂有七里湖[1]。

2024年1月，本村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」[1]。1990年至2010年间，本村共11次被惠安县委、县政府授予「文明村」称号[2]。

湖街龙溪庙位于本村，年代为1947年，属近现代重要史迹及代表性建筑[1]。
