埔尾村因地处东岭埔尾的末端而得名[1]。据传此前顶铺尾有陈、郑两姓共居，下埔尾有刘、涂、张三姓共居；明代中叶，张氏后人迁入繁衍，其他姓氏渐次外迁，如今顶埔尾和下埔尾都是张姓居住[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

民国时期属东岭乡龙山保，1958年属龙山大队，后改属埔尾大队。乡改镇那年（1989年10月），此地成为东岭镇埔尾村委会[1]。
