历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历，据博雅地名网所载：元朝时，廖姓村民从安溪迁来此地定居，村因此得名。[1]
另据村中廖氏家庙的文字，明朝中期，廖氏一支的第十九世祖由安溪分出，迁至现址，并以姓为村名。两种说法的年代不同，此处并存。[3]
明清两代此地归惠安县十九都蔡宅铺管辖；民国时划在涂寨区的端东乡境内。1958年划入惠安县飞跃公社；1962年自涂寨大队分出，另立廖厝生产大队；1983年成立廖厝村委会。[1][2]
名胜古迹[edit]
廖氏家庙在村中，俗称「四房祠堂」。家庙由第四房的第一世祖后人在清雍正年间（1723年至1735年）建成，坐南朝北，两进五开间。[3]
家庙的门厅、天井、两厢之后是祀厅，其面阔五间，进深三间，屋顶为硬山式。祠内壁堵有花岗岩浮雕与红砖沉雕，题材为人物与花卉。[3]
