历史沿革[edit]
村东有一座莲花山，山上树木繁多，村因此得名「东莲」，又称「东林」[1][2]。
明、清时期此地属二十六都青山铺，民国时属青山乡田边保。1949年冬，此地先归四区（崇武）田边乡管辖，其后又并入崇武区的青滨乡。1958年，村归飞跃公社青滨大队所辖；此后自1961年起，东莲先后隶属崇武公社与山霞公社，称为东莲大队；1985年设山霞乡东莲村委会，1992年随乡改镇，成为山霞镇东莲村委会[2]。
1930年9月，前坑的李青阳率数十人投身「惠安暴动」，此次暴动亦称惠东暴动[3]。
名胜古迹[edit]
村内祠堂与庙宇较多，有胜峰寺、王公宫、冰心寺，以及辛氏宗祠等[3]。
经济[edit]
村中以石雕、木工为主要行业，村民中有不少石工、木工匠人，曾参与外地的建筑工程[3]。
