村名与沿革[edit]
村址北高南低，略呈梯形，南面临泉州湾，形状像一只畚箕。早先前人起名钱垵，取聚财、兴旺之意，后改称前垵。[1]
元末明初开基，始有陈、黄二姓，其中陈姓居多，黄姓次之。1985年由前垵大队改为前垵村委会。[1]
文物[edit]
崇武前垵陈氏宗祠为县级文物保护单位。宗祠可追溯到嘉靖（1522至1566年）时期，1999年陈氏族人集资修缮。[1]
前垵雷山宫旧址为明代古建筑。[1]
