地名由来[edit]
村子包括莲石、东溪、新塘内三个自然村，从莲石与新塘内各取一字，取名莲新。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村子原属张坂公社莲山大队。1982年，莲新大队由莲山大队分出；1985年，它改设为莲新村民委员会。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2022年12月，莲新村获评「2022年福建省卫生村」，由福建省爱国卫生运动委员会公布。[1]
