东园镇下辖的一个行政村，地处晋江与洛阳江汇合之处，山海兼具，距镇政府约10公里，辖秀涂、门兜、顶宫、下宫四个自然村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

地名由来有两说。一说，此地初称「芸头」，清末因港口煤油污染，改称「臭土」，后谐音雅化为「秀涂」。另一说，据传外国船长赞其景色如绣图，译成中文后，海图与地图即定名为秀涂。[1]

1984年设村委会。此前，该地的隶属关系曾在元明清至民国间多次变动。[1]

经济与社会[edit]

村民以农业、近海渔业与滩涂养殖为生，此外从事制鞋与运输。[1]

2021年，该村被列为「淘宝村」，并获「福建省卫生村」称号。[1]

村中设有小学、幼儿园、卫生所与老年活动中心。2015年建成灯光篮球场。[1]
