地名与沿革[edit]
村前有一条大溪，先人在东北面筑坝拦水，蓄水灌溉农田，村子位于坝的下游，因此得名坝下。[1]
中华人民共和国成立后，此地属惠安县第九区的民群乡。1958年人民公社成立，民群乡分出南安、坝下两个生产大队。1984年10月，坝下村改设村民委员会。[1]

村子下辖11个自然村，共9个村民小组。村内有惠安县坝下小学，并设有村卫生所。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2020年12月，村子被认定为「2020年泉州市中级版“绿盈乡村”」。[1]
