前郭村位于黄塘镇境内，村名因村落建于岩山之前而得。[1]

地名由来[edit]

南宋时，约在1156年前后，郭姓先民自河南固始迁来，村落建在岩山之前，故称前郭。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村落至南宋时已经设立。明清时期属十七都前郭铺，民国时属民安乡黄塘保。1949年冬起先后归洛阳、黄塘等区乡管辖，1958年起属东红公社、黄塘公社，设前郭大队。1985年设黄塘乡前郭村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

2021年2月，前郭村列入「福建省2018—2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。福建省爱卫办于2021年11月评定前郭村为卫生村，称号为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2023年12月，前郭村被命名为「2023年度福建省森林村庄」。[1]
