下茂村位于黄塘镇西北部，距镇人民政府约4千米，村辖8个自然村，包括下茂、溪东、大坝内、格口与园埔。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

古时郑姓村民迁居此地，因村前低处有一座古墓，称作「下墓」，后谐音写作「下茂」。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期，村地属十七都黄田铺，民国时期村地归蓝田保管辖。1949年冬，村地划入一区蓝田乡；1952年起改属九区的黄塘乡、龙石乡与恒德乡。1958年起归东红公社、黄塘公社管辖。1982年自原大队分出，建下墓大队；1985年起称黄塘乡下茂村委会，1992年由乡改为镇。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

郑一信墓位于大坝内自然村的上帝公山东北麓，为明代墓葬。墓主郑一信生于1528年，卒于1590年。[2]

文化[edit]

福建省爱卫办于2021年11月评定下茂村为卫生村，称号为「2021年福建省卫生村」。2023年2月，下茂村列入「福建省第三批高级版绿盈乡村」名单。2025年3月，下茂村被认定为「福建省第一批省级乡村振兴示范村」；同年5月，入选「2025年泉州市乡村五个美丽整村打造培育名单」。[2]
