螺城镇是福建省泉州市惠安县下辖的镇，位于惠安县中北部，镇区即县城中心区，也是县人民政府的驻地。县政府网站称镇区是全县政治、经济、文化与交通的中心。[1][2]
全镇辖11个社区和3个行政村。北面与辋川镇、泉港区相邻，南接螺阳镇，西连紫山镇；镇域内有国道324线、沈海高速公路与福厦高速铁路通过。[1][2]
北宋太平兴国六年（981年）设惠安县时，县治就设在这一带，1981年改名螺城镇。镇名据博雅地名网所述取自西北面的螺山，山形像「螺狮吐肉」。[3][4]
历史沿革[edit]
1958年间此地曾归入红旗人民公社，1961年改为城关公社；1962年东关、北关一带另设城关镇，1981年定名螺城镇。[4]
20世纪90年代中期起，县城中心区开始改造，中新、东南、北关、东关等区域先后改建为商住区，城区由此向东、西、南、北拓展。[2]
2002年，福建省委、省政府将螺城镇列为全省11个小城镇试点乡镇之一。[2]
地理环境[edit]
辖区面积，百度百科记为27.5平方千米；博雅地名网记为约5.2平方公里，两者未注年份，此处并存。[3][4]
镇区内的科山设有科山公园，山上有科山寺，寺中又设报德祠。[7][8]
名胜古迹[edit]
惠安文庙又称惠安孔庙，在中山北路西边，创于北宋太平兴国六年（981年），清光绪十八年（1892年）重建。它是宋至清代用于祭祀孔子和本地先贤的庙学建筑，占地约2895平方米。百度百科称其为福建省第六批省级文物保护单位，维基百科则记2005年列为福建省文物保护单位。文庙内设有1987年成立的惠安县博物馆。[5][6]
科山寺的创建时间可追溯到北宋元祐年间（1086年），明景泰年间经道士陈静怀重建。寺中设报德祠，祀明代巡按刘望海的石像与碑刻，寺周留有宋至民国的摩崖石刻20余处。[7]
报德祠石刻为明代遗物。明万历三十九年（1611年），惠安士绅为感谢御史刘望海替百姓减免租赋，集资为他塑像、建生祠并立碑。石刻存于科山报德祠。[8]
惠安刘氏民居又名刘望海故居，博雅地名网记其始建于明万历年间，为福建省级文物保护单位，位于中山北街。[4]
梅山村云峰山上的大中寺为县级文物保护单位，据博雅地名网始建于唐大中年间（847－859年）。[9]
