凤南村位于前黄镇东部，驿峰公路穿越村境。[1] 村内有西吴、地中、蔡头桥三个自然村，村民多从事建筑与针织行业。[1]

地名由来[edit]

坝头一带旧有“凤穴”“后厝”之称；以“凤”字起首的村庄共六个，分别为凤南、凤北、凤阳、凤山、凤林与凤安。1961年，凤阳大队分出一个大队，以“凤”字与其所在方位为名，即凤南大队；1985年改称凤南村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

凤南一带在明清两代属七都的安埕铺，民国时划入锦凤乡的凤阳保。[1] 解放后，辖属几经调整：先后归八区、十区与十三区，1956年并入南埔区的坝头乡，1958年则属超先公社的凤阳大队。[1]

此后，凤南大队改隶山腰公社；1985年设为山腰乡凤南村委会。[1]
