村名的来历与村部的旧址有关：早年村部设在后龙自然村，村名因而定为后龙。[1]

中华人民共和国成立初期，此地称后龙乡或后龙公社，20世纪90年代才改乡为镇。1956年起，以后龙村为名设立村委会。[3]
