狮东村位于界山镇东北侧，又称东吴，古号江东，因村落背靠狮山而得名。[1]

村中以吴姓人口居多，另有部分蒋姓人口。[2]

地名由来[edit]

村址在一处三面临海的小半岛上，港道深阔，船只可在此避风，陆路只能从东侧通行。山上古树成林，峰峦有狮球山、虎头山等。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

约在南宋理宗年间，吴延仁自莆田水南迁居于此，他与村中始祖相隔九代。[1]

1949年设狮东乡，隶属涂岭的第7区区公所。[1]

1985年，村里设立村委会，归南埔乡管辖；2000年自南埔镇析出，由界山镇领属。[1]

华侨[edit]

村里华侨较多，海外华侨联谊会曾为村中学校与老年协会捐资捐物。[2]
