村名原作「了关」，因读音相近改称鸟关。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1961年体制下放时，由山边大队析出，另立鸟关大队，后改称鸟关村，设村委会，驻后洋。[1]

村内原有鸟关、草坂、顶辽、后洋四个自然村。[1]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办命名本村为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
