新民村位于马甲镇西北部，由13个自然村组成，三面环山，耕地少而山地多。[1]

村名的本意是纪念新的民主政权的建立。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

解放前此地属洋西坑一带；新中国成立后分开建政，一度称新民乡。1958年公社化时，此地改设新民大队；1984年设新民村委会，1988年村委会驻地迁到大深埔。[1]

文化[edit]

「凤栖杜氏大宗祠」位于村内祖厝自然村中部，建于明清，为市级文物保护单位。[1]

「贞义姑祠、“孝节”坊」位于本村与蔡内村境内，建于明清，同为市级文物保护单位。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2004年，村落被区委、区政府评为「宽裕型小康村」；2005年，被市委、市政府评为「宽裕型文明村」；2007年初，又被确定为「市级社会主义新农村建设示范村」。[1]

2021年11月，村落获「2021年福建省卫生村」称号；2023年11月，被认定为「第三批全国乡村治理示范村」。[1]

2020年9月、2021年10月和2022年10月，村落先后列入淘宝村名单。[1]
