马甲村位于马甲镇区北街一带，是镇政府驻地所在的村，东与惠安县交界，南邻河市镇，西接南安市，北至罗溪镇。[1][2][3]
村名据传来自南宋末年：元兵南下途经此地休息，在溪边放马，满地都是战马的铠甲，故称“马甲”。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
宋代此地属晋江县玉泉乡善政里、仙溪里；元、明、清三代分属四十二都至四十六都；民国时期属晋江县第四区，先后隶属锦凤乡、丰山乡、锦丰乡。[1]
1949年后划入晋江县第二区；1971年划归泉州市，设马甲人民公社；1984年更名为马甲村委会。[1]

全村辖6个自然村，村落面积约2.1平方公里，村中大部分为汉族，另有少数畲族。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2021年10月和2022年10月，村落先后列入淘宝村名单；2024年2月，被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象。[1]
