朝阳社区位于双阳街道西北部，东与新阳社区相邻，北与河市接壤，西面环山[2]。社区名称一说寓意东升的太阳、充满朝气，一说是解放初期划分耕作区时所取[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期此地属晋江县四十一都，民国时属晋江县河市区。新中国成立初，此处归晋江县三区团结乡管辖，其后划为耕作区，取名朝阳[1]。1960年并入双阳华侨农场，曾称朝阳管区；1998年农场改制设镇，此地改称朝阳村，2005年再改为朝阳社区[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

顶塘北山的一块石头形似鹰哥，当地称为鹰哥石；宅仔坑北山的石头形似石老钟，当地人说它常发出钟声，故称石钟[2]。
